FOS, beeswax, stone, led and pigments, dimensions variable, 2019
On Sunday, December 15, Spazio Ulisse in Chiusi inaugurates the first solo exhibition of Panayiotis Andreou, a young artist whose creative practice involves various materials and techniques, while gravitating around sculpture.
The exhibition in Chiusi will present two installations based on light and movement, heaviness and fragility, articulated through seemingly discordant practices.
In the window space on Via Porsenna, “Φως Fos” will be exhibited, a new work in which the artist explores traditional elements of sculpture such as stone, drapery, light, and shadow, but approaches them through unconventional means like wax and neon. As Panayiotis himself explains: “In the work ‘Φως Fos’, white wax takes on fluid forms, moves and bends delicately, denying its fragility. Penetrated by light, it is tinged with unusual tones, and shadows are formed that help make the movement more evident.”
